UNDERTOW commences pre-production

Supported by Film Victoria, the Melbourne International Film Festival, Definition Films as well as a wonderful group of Emerald's supporters, we're excited by the amazing team assembled to help bring this daring feature film to screens in 2018.

​ SPICE SISTERS feels the love across Australia...and is about to head overseas

There's been a lot going on in the Spice Sisters world. Last year the film went on to screen at the Heart of Gold International Film Festival in Queensland where it was nominated for four awards, as well as CinefestOz in Perth. In January, we had a fantastic screening at Flickerfest, which took the film on tour across Australia.  And finally - Spice Sisters soon heads to LA to screen at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles!

It's a wrap!

Emerald has just wrapped shooting on two short films funded by Screen NSW under its Emerging Filmmakers Fund: THE GIFT directed by Lucy Gaffy and BABY BABY directed by Billie Pleffer. A very busy month! Both short films are now in post production and we are looking forward to unveiling the results later this year!

SPINE selected for two Australian film festivals

Our short film SPINE has had a strong start on the festival circuit. It recently screened as part of the Perth Revelation Film Festival where it was described as "cramming more tension into 10 minutes than most features"! It has also been selected to screen at the Melbourne International Film Festival. The team is very excited about the response to the film so far.

Emerald walks the red carpet at the Palais in Cannes!

The Love Song of Iskra Prufrock has taken writer/director Lucy Gaffy, and producer Lyn Norfor, all the way to Cannes, courtesy of the 2011 Gold Shorts Award! Emerald producer, Sheila Jayadev, was able to join the Iskra team on the red carpet en route home after completing a six month internship with Ridley and Tony Scott’s London-based Scott Free Productions. What a photo - these Emerald ladies were born for the red carpet!

Springboard supports Perception!

Writer/director Miranda Nation and Emerald producer Lyn Norfor are successful recipients of Screen Australia's Springboard Short Film Initiative. Production of their short film, Perception, will be generously funded by Screen Australia, and will be used to showcase Miranda's unique and distinctive directorial voice. Screen Australia sends Emerald to Rotterdam!

Emerald producer Lyn Norfor will join 77 emerging film producers from all over the world at the 12th edition of the Rotterdam Lab. The Rotterdam Lab and its industry experts demonstrate the process by which a film project in need of financing is completed and brought to its audience. The Lab also focuses on how to build international networks to present these projects. We understand that there are a lot of drinks involved in doing this, and are confident that Lyn will excel in this area! Stay warm Lyn!

SPINE  receives Screen Australia support!

Emerald has been awarded funds from Screen Australia's Short Film Completion Fund for its short film, Spine, which stars Lucas Pittaway (Snowtown). Spine is written and directed by Sophie Miller, produced by Sheila Jayadev and is based on an idea by Tony Ayres. These funds will allow Sophie and Sheila to finish the short film to a high standard, ready for the 'world festival stage'!

EFF Success!

The team behind the hugely successful AFI-nominated short film The Love Song of Iskra Prufrock (producer Lyn Norfor and writer/director Lucy Gaffy) are one of the five recipients of Screen NSW's Emerging Filmmakers Fund for their short film The Gift. Lyn and Lucy will commence production on the magical drama in 2012. Congratulations to Lucy and Lyn!

Iskra Goes to Hollywood!

The Love Song of Iskra Prufrock has struck gold again - winning the Fuji Film Audience Impact Award at the prestigious Angelus Student Film Festival - the only 'foreign' film to be nominated and win an award. And the icing on the cake - the film was on a huge billboard on Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles with Lucy's name in lights for all to see. Congratulations Lucy!
Also, Iskra received a Special Mention at I've Seen Films 2011 - International Film Festival, Milan.

Emerald Goes to London!

Emerald producer Sheila Jayadev is heading to London where she'll spend six months in the development department at Ridley and Tony Scott’s London-based Scott Free Productions (Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator, Robin Hood, The A-Team, Unstoppable), working closely with Head of Development Jack Arbuthnott on their expanding film and television slate. Sheila is one of six talented producers selected by Screen Australia to participate in their Talent Escalator Program. Congratulations Sheila!

Emerald acquires film rights to Bereft

Emerald directors win at WOW

Emerald is very proud to announce that directors Martha Goddard (currently attached to The Last Hurrah) and Lucy Gaffy both received awards at the World of Women Film Festival 2011 on Thursday night. The Bridge (dir: Martha Goddard) was awarded the SBS Television Award which means it will be broadcast on SBS - stay tuned. The Love Song of Iskra Prufrock (dir: Lucy Gaffy, prod: Lyn Norfor) won Best Student Film. Emerald is looking forward to continuing to work with these two very talented young directors!
